WIIS-Romania is an independent, non-partisan network organization, registered under Romanian law. It belongs to the world-wide family of WIIS international affiliates and aims to endorse and promote WIIS mission and values.
Women In International Security is the premier global organization dedicated to advancing women’s leadership and achieving gender equality in international peace and security.
WIIS believes in achieving peace and security through gender equality. WIIS network takes a broad view of security, including a focus on human security and national and global security issues. For 35 years, WIIS has built a body of evidence that women’s leadership and gender empowerment are vital to overcoming critical global security challenges. WIIS promotes an inclusive and intersectional approach to the Women, Peace & Security agenda.WIIS is committed to closing the gender equality gap and reversing the effects of the “shadow” pandemic that has disproportionately impacted women of color and members of the LGBTQIA+ community.
Women In International Security is an organization established in 1988 by Dr. Catherine McArdle Kelleher (January 19, 1939 – February 15, 2023). Dr. Kelleher was a renowned scholar, writer, professor, mentor, analyst, and practitioner in national and international security studies, she was most notably a pioneer and champion for women in the national and international security field.
